Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company dry van manufacturing plant in Glade Spring, Virginia recently celebrated its 50,000th trailer this spring. The recipient of this milestone trailer went to a local company, Food City, based in Abingdon, Virginia. A joint press conference was held on May 21, 2013.

at its Glade Spring, Virginia manufacturing plant. Food City, Utility’s local Virginia customer, was the recipient of the 4000D-X Composite® at a special event
held earlier this year K-VA-T Food Stores, Inc., Food City’s parent company, has over 100 retail supermarkets throughout the tri-state regions of Southeast Kentucky, Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee. Utility and Food City celebrated this momentous occasion at the Glade Spring, VA plant where a press conference was held and local news broadcasters covered the event.
Steven C. Smith, Food City’s President and Chief Executive Officer congratulated Utility on reaching such a significant milestone in the plant’s history. “Their success has certainly been vital to our local economy,” said Smith. “As a locally owned and operated company ourselves, we’re extremely proud to partner with Utility to not only secure top quality trailers at a very competitive price, but a product that is manufactured right here in our own community by our friends and neighbors.”
“Every employee, here at the plant, had a hand in building this particular trailer,” stated Sam Cassell, Plant Manager for Glade Spring. “We all take great pride in this
special achievement”. Along with Smith and Cassell, Utility’s Craig Bennett, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing addressed the attendees with great appreciation for Food City’s support and partnership. “We are pleased that Food City is the recipient of the 50,000th trailer from our Glade Spring plant,” said Bennett. “They are an important customer of ours and we will continue to support their growth by providing them with the highest quality products and solutions for their business.”
